Where Is The LOVE

Where is the love I wonder?
Have we let the MAN put us under?
We’ve seem to have sold our souls to the fallen son of the Lord
All so we can have that bling bling that we really can’t afford.
Are you tired of seeing videos where sistas shake their asses?
Where they are exploited all to sell CD’s by the masses?
The sista on your arm is the best thing that’s happen to you by far,
But brotha you want to trade up and get a newer, younger “model” as if you were buying a car.
Black people, my people can we please stop all the self hating
Let’s get back to love and monogamous mating.
We are killing each other and for what?
All because we don’t want to practice safer sex and wrap it up.
We say the school system is failing our kids
What happen to the days where we taught yours, mine, hers and his?
Many of us talk a good game but would you really be ready for the revolution when it came
Or would you talk your way out of it with some excuse that was lame?
It hurts me to see my people living in such blind despair not seeing the forest from the tree.
We have to get back, regroup and rebuild our community.
I haven’t given up on my black people can you say the same is true for you
The reemergence of Black Love is definitely overdue.

Its seems like your blaming the men for some of society's pitfalls and that's not fair. That's a two way street your walking down Phoenix. 4 Real...

As far as your comment on "naked women in the video's" and "the bling, bling" that's just a sign of the times. Its all about money right about now but unfortunately, money can't buy you love. It will just keep you happy until find out its root of all evil. Like B.I.G said "More Money, More Problems."

Oh, yeah and the each one, teach one concept played out 88, when babies started having babies and when we started seeing a rise in single parent homes. There is no love because they (kids) where not taught how to love.

i don't think Phoenix is blaming it on black men, but she is attempting to get the black community to recognize the error in our (men and women) ways. "For the love of money" isn't getting us anywhere. As long as we are divided and remain detached from the things that help to keep us encouraged (the real things, not money and bling) then we continue to lose and "the man" to which I think she is referring, continues to win.

I always like seeing people express themselves. Whether we agree 100% or not with the words, they fact that phoneix is acknowledging our challenges is important. Next step...solutions!!!

@phillylive...I'm a black man and with all due respect. I'm beginning to see that the problems we have in the black community starts with the men. It is not a two way streak. As men and as leaders we are the ones that have to step by being better husbands, fathers, and leaders. If you want to destroy a community destroy its men.
How are we going to be better men?

@ noname - I'm just posing some questions. And why can't I be idealistic? I think as a people we need to have higher standards cause the ones we have now resulting in the mess we are in now.

@ Phillylive - I don't think you really understood the words of the poem. I am trying to get our people to think about what we are doing as a community to destroy or uplift our people. I wasn't coming down on men, I was looking at men and women and parents and us in general.

As for the each one teach on and single parent thing - I'm a product of the 80's and I have mad love for my people. Now yes, there are babies having babies but that is when the more responsible and able people need to come in and help teach how to love. My mother wasn't my only role model. I had many.

It's thinking like yours that keep many of us held to the prisons of our on making.

@ Roycee - thanks sista for understanding and getting the poem.

@ Breezy - I'd like to hear what you think is the way our black men could step up.

@ Breezy... That nonsense your popping does not impress me. Matter fact, it does not even make since. What are try'n to score some cool points with the ladies? How can you point the finger at the black man if you are a black man? That's like walking out the front door and then climbing back in the window dogg.

The black community as a whole is failing not just the black man. And the white folks are to blame. They got us confused and chasing this so called American Dream.. How can you be a good husband, father, or leader if you can't even get a good paying job to pay the bills?

Breezy, you are committing black on black crime with your statement. You must be African or something?

@ Phoenix... I completely understand your poem but when you use words like "Man and Brother" it was obvious where your poem is going. Like I said to Breezy the black community as a whole is failing. And the last time I checked the black community consisted of men and women, boys and girls.

Call a spade a spade don't bite your tongue now. There is enough blame to go around for everyone.

Oh, and on my peacefully journey through life, I just try to keep it real. Cuz that's all I know. If I can help you I will. If you kill my dog then I'll slay your cat. Life is just a game and I'm just playing it play to play it. I just hope when its all said and done I have more victories then losses..

@ Philly - if you read the poem I am essentially address the black adult community. I talk to women about shaking their ass, I talk to men about dating, I talk to parents about teaching thier kids. Then"Man" I am refering to to is "the white government". I tlak to the flok about bling bling. But if all you are getting out of the poem is that I'm bashing black men, then maybe the issue is with you and my poem is just bringing to the for front something you are dealing with within yourself. I don't know but it seems that you only read a few lines. and Breezy was just expressing his point of view about how the black community has gone astray. Maybe he is right maybe he is worng, but it's worth discussing, not to would be ignoring a possible solution.

    Be Easy!
