LOVE ME FOR ME

This poem is dedicated to all the men who have matured and realize that the "perfect woman" is just an illusion and to all the women who have had to compete with this idea.

Why can’t you just love me for me
I’m never gonna be the size of a super model can’t you see

I’ll never look like Halle, Vivica, or even Beyonce
But I know I sure look good enough to be your fiancée

A rocket scientist I’ll never be
Not even a doctor, lawyer or an actress on TV

But each and every day I work hard on my grind
Pay all my bills and self sufficient, not many like me you’ll find

Some would agree that I’m a rare catch
My own place, no kids and intelligence to match

When you see an attractive woman, you stop and stare
Her posterior to mine you may compare

I’m not your mother or have you forgot
To pick up behind you I will not

So what I choose to eat take-out although I can burn
Why can’t we share the cooking duties and take turns

Don’t be disillusioned by this little belly and these soft curves
A bigger purpose they may one day serve

The perfect woman I was not designed to be
So please just love me for me

    No problem. Will do. ;-)

There's one thing about this though. There is a big difference between the women that guys will gawk over, and the ones we will actually approach.

You are what you attract, so if you are everything you say you are in the poem, you won't have any problem finding the right guy, or having him find you, if it hasn't happened already.

The key words were "men who have matured". At one time or the other we all have probably had to compete with an illusion. But the mature man will realize that there is no such thing as perfection and there are some real undiscovered gems walking around out here.

The perfect man or woman is just a fantasy. And there's nothing wrong with fantisizing as long as that's where it remains.... a fantasy!

@ ONoise - I am what I say I am. And I'll let you know if that right guy finds me.

@ Onefromphilly - yeah it's too bad that men mature slower than women for the most part.

Good show, Phoenix. I have to agree that it's a maturity thing, for the most part. I mean, I'll drool a little over some celebrity eye candy. But, in reality, I know that it does not exist. Nor does it need to.

The perfect woman is a mute culinary professional with an ass like atwo NBA certified balls and a penchant for spontaneously demonstrating porn techniques.

Wow, this is deep...I agree he should love you for who you are, not a Beyonce or a Halle. But in the world we live in it's all about looks from videos to magazines and that's why true love to me is hard to find out there. It has to be genuine whether you're a generic Beyonce or a commoner, we all search and crave love.
    Great post
